BEGINNING BEADING AND DESIGN
INSTRUCTOR: ROBIN CHALY
This class is for students new to beading or those wanting to refresh their skills of knotting pearls on silk thread and stringing gemstones on wire. Different methods of closures using wire guardians, crimps, crimp bead covers, French Wire, bead tips, cones, connectors, clasps and more will be covered and practiced. Students who have a special focal piece they would like to add to a beaded necklace should bring it to class. A large selection of pearls, natural stones, crystals, metal spacers and wood beads will be available for purchase.
Space is limited, so please don’t bring large bags, boxes, or containers of beads to class.
The cost of the class will depend on the student purchases. All beads, tools and supplies needed may be purchased from the instructor.
Students may choose to bring their own tools, purchase basic tools from the instructor or share those supplied by the instructor.
Class Fee: $200 - $400 or more.
Materials Fee: $45 (student receives bead stoppers, spool of Accu-Flex beading wire, sterling silver crimp beads, crimp covers, and jump rings, as well as silk thread, twisted needle, French Wire, a Sterling Silver clasp for the knotted pearl necklace and a medium plastic box for holding supplies.)
Prerequisite: No special training, just the ability to manipulate small beads and findings (clasps, crimps, wire protectors, knots, etc.).
Robin is a retired elementary music specialist and private vocal coach. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Augusta College in Augusta, Georgia and her Master of Music degree from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Robin and her husband, Steve (also a retired teacher), moved to Hiawassee, Georgia in 2017 and began taking a variety of classes at William Holland Lapidary School.
Robin is intrigued by color, texture and creative design when beading and would like to share that interest with you. When she is not beading, Robin also enjoys reading, quilling, and playing the accordion, and pampering their spoiled feline, Baggins.
Please contact William Holland School of Lapidary Arts if you have any questions.
