FACETING II: RUBIES, SAPPHIRE, TOPAZ and CZ
INSTRUCTOR: JOHN ELLIOTT
This course will help develop and expand your faceting skills. You will learn to facet high MOH’s stones. We will discuss how to maximize color, scintillation,
and brilliance in these stones. This class is for the more experienced faceter. We will help you continue your skill development. In this class, we will refine your
faceting skills with Batt Lap progression and diamond pastes. These special laps are used to create a mirror polish on rubies, sapphires, topaz, CZ and
Alexandrite. We will be using lab created rough and some natural topaz for faceting gems. Please bring an OptiVISOR or 10x loupe in addition to closed-toe
shoes. If you have your own faceting machine or laps, feel free to bring those as well and I’ll help you learn that machine.
Class Fee: $250
Prerequisites: Previous faceting class or practical experience
Growing up I went into mines and collected stones with my mother and Father. Later in life I started faceting and making jewelry. In 2018, I discovered the William Holland School and took courses in faceting and jewelry making. I was hooked. I explored and enjoyed doing Sapphires and Rubies in 2019.
Please contact William Holland School of Lapidary Arts if you have any questions.
