LAPIDARY II: TWISTED LAPIDARY 

INSTRUCTOR: CHUCK BRUCE 

 

 

This class will focus on creating beyond cabochons. Students will be exposed to intarsia in a Zuni Sun Father Face. Students will acquire additional knowledge in the following;

  • Doublets and triplets
  • Stone cones
  • Drilling into stones using diamond core bits
  • Fit concave shaped stones with convex shaped stones
  • Chip inlay into stones
  • Make alternate cabs using dried natural items (butterfly or dragonfly wings, etc) using optical glues
  • Stabilization, custom tinting and a little hand carving will be covered  

Fee includes projects for most techniques and will have extra kits for sale. Students will need to bring varied slabs of different hardness for projects. 

 

Class Fee: $250.00  

Estimate Material Cost: $75 to $125 depending on projects chosen. 

Prerequisites: Cabochons (Calibration and Shapes)
