EXPLORING ADVANCED TECHNIQUES TO ENHANCE YOUR BEAD STYLE
INSTRUCTOR: FRANK SCOTT
This class will give you a myriad of techniques that you can customize to design your own unique style of bead making.
We will explore several advanced styles of beads, and then we will explore the many finishing options available to put your personal stamp on your work. We will make masked dot, twisted dot, and shard beads to use for exploring various finishing techniques. We will also practice thread wrapping and make an applied flower cane bead to learn how to mask part of a bead and etch the rest of it.
The class will learn about acid etching, baking soda, and tumbling—all offering various finishes. We will also make our own bead caps and install them on your beads. Lastly, we will work on a glass engraving lathe to create beads with texture and pattern. We will learn about the Venetian tradition of Battuto and other wheel engraving techniques.
