METAL CLAY: SILVER METAL CLAY AND COLOR
INSTRUCTOR: STAR PAYNE
July 19-24, 2026
Enhance your Silver Metal Clay up a notch with color. In this class we will explore adding color to silver metal clay creating pieces that stand out above the rest. Silver metal clay is micro-fine particles of silver in a claylike binder that can be cut, formed, and textured. When fired with a kiln or torch, the binder burns away and what is left is fine silver.
During the first part of the week, we will be creating the silver base pieces using basic and advanced design and construction techniques to which we will add color using dichroic glass, resin, inks and stone inlay. This class is suitable for both beginning and advanced metal clay students.
The class fee includes enough silver metal clay to complete several projects, such as earrings, pendants, and a hollow form design. Resins, inks, paints and enamels are also included in the class fee, along with handouts and consumables along with the use of an instructor’s tool kit. Additional metal clay and materials will be available for purchase, and the prices are included in the Estimated Materials Fee.
Class Fee: $275.00
Est. Materials Fee: $25.00 - $200.00
Prerequisites: Some experience with metal clay preferred but not required.
