Description

MICRO MACRAME I

INSTRUCTOR: KRISTIN PIETRAS 

 

This Micro Macramé class is for absolute beginners.  Students will learn Macramé basics including types of cord, use of a Macramé board and pins, 10 commonly used knots and the addition of beads and other components.  Students will complete the following 5 projects: 

  • 1mm waxed polyester cord bracelet with diagonal double half hitch knots, a focal connector, 4mm beads and a slide clasp 
  • .5mm nylon cord bracelet with diagonal double half hitch knots, a focal connector, 8/0 seed beads and slide clasp 
  • .5mm nylon cord bracelet with square knots, stone or crystal 6 or 8mm beads, 8/0 seed beads and a lark’s head knotted loop with button clasp.  
  • .5mm nylon cord necklace with square knots around a 3mm leather cord, stone or crystal 6 and 8mm beads, 8/0 seed beads, cord end caps and lobster clasp. 
  • .5mm nylon cord earrings and pendant with lark’s head knots around a 20mm silver or gold connector, stone or crystal 6mm beads, 8/0 seed beads, ear wires and bail. 

Instructor will provide a large macrame board kit that includes an 11.5 x 15.5-inch foam board, pins, blunt needle, 2mm practice cord and pictured instructions for 10 commonly used knots.  All cord, beads, findings and pictured instructions needed for each project will also be provided. Other tools necessary to complete a project, such as scissors, lighter, glue, bead mat and fray knot, will be available for student use.
