SILVER III – CHANNEL INLAY
INSTRUCTOR: CHUCK BRUCE
Construct a channel inlay pendant (project 1) with stone or chip or crushed inlay channels, from that student's choice. Channel Inlay combines a soldered silver grid with carefully fitted shaped pieces of stone or chip stone or crushed stone. Stones of similar hardness can be used in the projects along with chip or crushed stone and will cover stabilization. Combining silver and lapidary techniques makes this a challenging class. Students can bring basic silver tools, pocketknife or scribe, OptiVISOR or other magnification, will have most tools needed. Students need to bring rock that are similar hardness and can be combined for inlay. Expect waste rock. Students can also inlay with wood, fossil ivory, bone, Fordite.
