SILVER I+ OPEN STUDIO: SILVER FABRICATION FOR BEGINNERS
INSTRUCTOR: VALERIE LAMOTT
This is an open studio with guidance. This class is for people who have some experience with silversmithing, but want to work on their own projects at their own pace.
Perhaps you have a pile of water castings you’re not quite sure how to finish or you’ve soldered a few bezels in Silver 1 and could use a refresher before making a few more. Or maybe you’ve soldered your 100th bezel and you just want to get some work done. Bring whatever half finished projects you have or ideas for new work and we’ll get it finished.
Bring all the metal you want and I will have some silver, copper, and brass available at current market prices if you need a little something to finish a project.
Class fee: $150
Est. Material Fee: $0
Prerequisites: Any experience with silversmithing.
Class max: 7 students
Est. Material Fee: Varies by project
After spending all day destroying things as a Quality Engineer, Valerie began metalsmithing classes in the evening to focus more on creating things. In 2013 she moved to South Carolina and transitioned into creating jewelry full time. Her work can be found in galleries in the South and Midwest and at many art shows. Often inspired by nature and travel, Valerie's work uses a variety of techniques-piercings, etching, stone setting, enameling, chasing, casting, etc. Valerie is most interested in the process of how things are made and enjoys the challenge of making a vision a reality.
