WIRE I: WRAPPING FUNDAMENTALS
INSTRUCTOR: JAMES TOMLIN
This class is designed for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of wire wrapping in a fun and hands-on environment. Students will learn about wire types and hardness, tool selection, shaping techniques, basic stone setting, and how to create clean and durable designs while building confidence with wire.
Projects will include earrings, rings, bracelets, and pendants taught in a progressive format that builds skills throughout the class. Students will learn techniques that can be applied to a variety of metals and styles while developing their own creativity and design approach. Fundamentals will first be taught using copper wire, with .925 sterling silver available for all projects as students advance.
The first two project kits are included in the class fee. Use of the classroom tool kit is also included during class time. Additional wire kits will be available for purchase throughout the class. Students are encouraged to bring an Optivisor or similar magnifier for detailed work.
The class fee includes instruction, pen, paper, Sharpie marker, handouts, wrap tape, jewelry cloth, and use of all classroom tools. Project costs may vary depending on the current metal market and the number of projects students are able to complete during class. Whether you are looking to start a new hobby, expand your jewelry-making skills, or explore a creative outlet, this class will provide a strong foundation while encouraging creativity and personal style.
